PAM GAUNT

New Works

Pamela Gaunt's mixed media work explores the physical and metaphorical margins, edges and borders of exhibition spaces.

In 1997, Gaunt was the recipient of an Australia Council Studio Residency in Milan, Italy.

Much of the research for this exhibition was done during this four month period.

Her work makes references to pattern, ornamentation and decoration in mosaic work, architecture, iron work and

aspects of traditional textiles and textile structures, such as lace work.

The ideas, experiences and impressions gathered during her Italian residency manifest themselves in the synthesis of

traditional and contemporary elements and in the witty and imaginative use of materials, motifs, ideas and the exhibition space itself.
