Virginia Ward’s work has evolved using the discards of industry. Using the discards from the studio of Luthier, Scott Wise has been the most enjoyable experience. Each piece of wood is cut by Scott and bears the unique weight of his handiwork. He has selected these woods from around the world. Some are rare, some endangered and some now extinct.
The woods used include : Brazilian rosewood, Honduras rosewood, East Indian rosewood, African blackwood, Sitka spruce from Alaska, European maple, European pear, South-east Asian rosewood (dalbergia oliveri), Tasmanian blackwood, jarrah, bunya, Queensland maple, ebony, wandoo, Warren River cedar hoop pine, red spruce, Australian red cedar, rock maple mahogany, big leaf maple, pear wood, goncaloalvez, brown mallet, surian. |
