The shadow in a daydream is an exhibition of wall and sculptural works.
Using coloured acrylic sheeting and mirrors, as well as airbrush drawings on paper, the wor describes moments where vision is tested and doubt arises about what is real and what is perceived.

The works create reflections that are split and doubled, shadows are distorted and objects are duplicated in mirrored images.

Filters and visual effects are at play here – they test our need to make sense of what we see while at the same highlighting how what is perceived by the human eye is often altered by the screen of things such as desires, fears and memories.

Born in Meckering in 1926, Brian McKay is a senior figure in Western Australian Art.
He was awarded the Australia Council Emeritus Award in 1990 and received the Order of Australia Medal for services to Contemporary Art in 1991. A survey of his work was held at the Art Gallery of Western Australia in 1988.
His many public commissions include Central Park Foyer, The Impossible Triangle (East Perth) and Fremantle Maritime Museum.
In this exhibition McKay looks at the complexities of the grid and depths of field, through the use of circular motifs.

Shapeshifter's Paradigm will examine the tension between shape and space by placing seemingly two dimensional installations in two distinctively spatial sites - one within the expansive, partly run-down warehouse ground floor of the artist-run initiative, PS Art Space in Fremantle's West End precinct, and the other,  within the contained and controlled white cube space of Galerie Düsseldorf in Mosman Park. 

The participant is confronted with numerous spatial negotiations, manifesting within different dimensions. Addressing the dynamics of site-specifity through interactive, arresting installation based works stand at the core of this project. 

Using materials such as copper rods, reflective acrylic, paint, artificial light sources and the manipulation of the site itself will allow the viewers to witness the installations as shifting dimensions in space. Sound, manufactured from the materials themselves will also be selectively introduced to make for a richer experience, activating further senses.

This body of work continues the sense of spatial transformation Tom Mùller  has been exploring his practice individually, and collaboratively for the last two decades.
